United Nations Women
The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, also known as UN Women, is a United Nations entity working for the empowerment of women. (UN-WOMEN) was created on July 2, 2010 and became functional in 2011. Before the UN Women was created, gender equality initiatives were split between four distinct divisions of the UN. The UN General Assembly later voted to combine these bodies into a single new entity in order to promote cohesion, gender equality and advancement of woman’s empowerment. The aim of the committee is not only to fight poverty, analphabetism and spreading of diseases within the women population of the globe, but to react whenever a violation of any of the human rights is being reasoned by the victim’s gender.
